Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener Kit Review
A sharpener frame that holds your angle grinder at 15 to 45 degrees, plus a balancer. Here's how mine came out at 30 degrees.
The Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener Kit is worth buying if you own a mower and currently pay someone to sharpen the blade. It holds an angle grinder at a locked angle from 15 to 45 degrees, fits blades up to 30 inches, and includes a balancer. Buy it.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.
Quick Verdict
I set mine to 30 degrees, sharpened one side of the blade, left the other alone, and the difference is obvious to the touch. You can’t really see it as well as you could feel it. Extremely sturdy, and it came out really good.
Buy if you:
- already own an angle grinder sitting in the garage
- sharpen your own mower blade every season
- want the balancer so your mower stops vibrating
- run blades up to 30 inches
Skip if you:
- don’t want to drill into your bench (I used scrap wood clamped down instead)
- don’t own a grinder, since the kit is only the frame and mount
- expect a visible mirror edge rather than a feel-it edge

I Didn’t Want My Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener Kit Damaging My Workbench
The frame mounts by screwing down, and I wasn’t drilling into my bench for it. So I screwed the lawn mower blade sharpener kit into a piece of scrap wood and clamped the wood to the bench instead. Took an extra minute and it’s just as solid. If you want to see the current price on Amazon, check it out here.
That’s the one thing worth knowing before it arrives. It’s not a clamp-on jig. It wants fasteners.
The Sharpener Doesn’t Sharpen. Your Grinder Does.
This is a jig, not a tool. You put a little mounting piece on your angle grinder, drop it into the frame, and the frame sets the angle for you. That’s the whole trick. Once it’s in there you tighten it, adjust it, and then you’re sharpening manually at a locked angle instead of eyeballing it freehand like most of us have been doing for years.
I used the front side of my grinder wheel only. Never touched the back. I angled a little from high to low across the edge and that was it.
15 to 45 Degrees, and the Balancer That Matters
I ran mine at 30 degrees, which is a standard factory edge, and the frame didn’t budge while the grinder was spinning, no flex, no creep. The range goes 15 to 45, the aluminum alloy construction is legitimately rigid, and the 30-inch max blade capacity covers every walk-behind and most riders you’re likely to own.
The balancer in the box is the part that prevents vibration when you reinstall the blade. A sharp blade that’s unevenly ground will shake your deck apart. This one checks that before you reinstall.
Price has been flat for three months with no sale pattern in sight, so there’s nothing to gain by waiting. Check today’s price on Amazon.
Sharp Side, Dull Side, One Blade
I sharpened one end of the blade and deliberately left the other alone. On camera you can barely tell. In your hand it’s night and day. The sharpened edge bites, and to the touch the unsharpened side is really dull. That’s the proof I wanted.
Who Should Actually Own This
If you own an angle grinder and a mower, this pays for itself in one season of sharpening. That’s the whole audience. If you don’t own a grinder, this kit does nothing on its own, and buying a grinder plus this to sharpen one blade a year doesn’t add up. For everyone already holding a grinder, there’s no reason to keep eyeballing the angle freehand and hoping for the best.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it live outside in the shed year-round?
It’s aluminum alloy, so it won’t rust like steel would, but I’d keep it inside anyway. The fasteners and the grinder mount are the parts that’ll suffer in damp. Mine stays on the bench in the garage.
Does it work on a mulching blade?
Yes, as long as it’s under 30 inches it clamps the same way. Mulching blades have more curve to the wing, so you may need to reposition the blade a couple times to reach the full cutting edge.
How often should I be sharpening?
Once you feel the edge go dull by hand, that’s your cue. Hitting a rock or a buried root will do it in a single pass. The balancer should come out every single time you grind, not occasionally.
