Philips OneBlade Replacement Blade Review
I shaved half my face in my classroom with a fresh OneBlade anti-friction blade. Here's how close it actually got.
The Philips Norelco OneBlade replacement blade is worth buying if you already own any OneBlade handle and want a dry shave without a full routine. A fresh blade gets about 99% as close as a razor and took me two minutes for half my face. Buy it.

Quick Verdict
Half my face, two minutes, in my classroom, no sink and no shaving cream. It’s about 99% of what you’re gonna get with a razor blade. A fresh blade makes my years-old handle feel brand new again.
Buy if you:
- Already own a OneBlade handle, old or new
- Grow just enough facial hair that you still have to shave
- Shave dry, away from a bathroom sink
- Don’t want a full lather-and-rinse routine
Skip if you:
- Want the absolute closest shave, a real razor still gets a little closer
- Have thick, heavy facial hair and shave daily
- Don’t own a OneBlade handle yet, these are blades only

I Shaved Half My Face in a Classroom
My OneBlade handle is old enough that I stopped tracking when I bought it, it lives in the shower and I’ve replaced the blade maybe six times since. I don’t buy a new system. I drop in a fresh blade every couple of months and it snaps back to day-one sharpness. The anti-friction version is the one to get, and it’s on Amazon.
It pops in just like any other one. No tools, no fuss. So I shaved half my face on camera to show you.
Where It Falls Short of a Real Razor
A razor blade is obviously gonna get a little bit closer, because it’s an actual blade. That’s the trade and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. If you want that last 1%, you still need a sink, cream, and the whole routine.
The other thing: this is blades only. If you don’t already own a handle, these do nothing for you on their own.
Two Minutes, No Sink, No Cream
Half my face, two minutes, sitting at a desk with no sink and no cream, and the shaved side looked close enough that nobody in the room noticed I’d only done one half. That’s the entire argument for this blade. I’m not a heavy grower, but I grow enough that skipping a shave shows. The OneBlade lets me handle it wherever I am without building a routine around it.
So it’s taking so much less effort for almost the same result. And remember, this wasn’t a brand new OneBlade system. This was just the blade I replaced on an old handle, and it performed like a brand new thing.
How Long a OneBlade Replacement Blade Lasts
Philips rates each blade for up to 4 months, and my buying habit lines up with that. I pick these up every couple of months and then I’m good to go for that time period. I’m not buying razor blades every day, which was the whole reason I stuck with this system instead of replacing the handle.
Worth knowing: these sell in real volume, over 20,000 bought in the past month, and the price has been sitting right about where it normally does for the last three months. There’s no sale to wait around for here.
Buy the Anti-Friction Version
Get the anti-friction blade, not the standard one, if your skin reacts at all. The micro-glass bead coating is the only meaningful difference and it fits every OneBlade handle either way, old like mine or the newer ones. Stainless steel, wet or dry, same install.
If you own any OneBlade handle, old or new, stop buying razors and just swap the blade. Four months of dry, two-minute shaves for the price of a lunch. Grab it on Amazon.
Pros
- About 99% as close as a razor blade
- Half a face shaved in roughly two minutes, dry

- Blades only, no handle included

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit the newer OneBlade handles too?
Yes. These fit all OneBlade handles. Mine’s a really old one and it snapped right in, but the newer versions take the same blade.
Can I use it in the shower with gel?
Yes, it’s rated for wet or dry use. Mine lives in the shower between classroom shaves.
Does it work for edging and beard lines, not just shaving?
Yes. Same blade handles trimming, edging, and shaving, so you’re not buying a separate cartridge for beard upkeep.
