Ulefone Tab A12 Pro Review: Budget 12.2-Inch Android Tablet

A 12.2-inch 2.4K 90Hz budget tablet with a 9000mAh battery, stylus and cover included. Here's where it wins and where it doesn't.

The Ulefone Tab A12 Pro is worth buying if you want a massive affordable screen for streaming, document editing, or casual drawing. You get a 12.2-inch 2.4K 90Hz display, a 9000mAh battery good for about 9.5 to 10 hours of video, plus a stylus and cover in the box. Skip it if you’re a hardcore 3D gamer.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

12.2 inches of 2.4K screen, 7.5mm thick, 610 grams, and a stylus plus a cover thrown in the box. The chassis feels like quality in your hand. The catch is that “16GB of RAM” is 8GB physical plus 8GB of dynamic expansion, which is not the same thing.

Buy if you:

  • Stream Netflix or Prime and want real HD, not 480p
  • Want iPad-Pro-sized screen real estate for document editing
  • Travel and want 4G LTE in the tablet so your phone stays free
  • Do casual drawing and don’t want to buy a stylus separately

Ulefone Tab A12 Pro Arrives With Pre-Applied Screen Protector

I didn’t even realize this thing ships with a screen protector already installed. Then I found the spare in the box in case I ruin the first one. That’s the whole story of the Ulefone Tab A12 Pro in one small detail. Ulefone sent this one over free for the review, and the first thing I noticed wasn’t a spec sheet item at all. It was how much is bundled in a budget-friendly tablet: stylus, cover, two protectors, all without breaking the bank.

Ulefone is famous for rugged phones. This is them taking a swing at the budget to mid-range tablet market.

The RAM Number on the Listing Is Doing Some Work

The listing promotes 16GB of RAM. It does have 16GB, but not in the traditional sense. It’s 8GB of physical RAM paired with 8GB of dynamic memory expansion. That’ll help you keep more background apps open, which is real. It is not the same power as 16GB of physical RAM, and if you’re cross-shopping spec sheets you should know that going in.

The other thing: 610 grams. It’s not super heavy for a 12.2-inch slab, but it’s not a one-hand-for-an-hour device either.

Ports, Slots, and the First Ten Minutes

Setup is Android 16 with nothing in the way. Ulefone hasn’t added any bloatware to it, so you’re getting a really clean, smooth experience straight out of the box. No carrier junk, no duplicate app store, no three-screen folder of games you’ll never open.

There’s a Type-C port for USB-C charging and a dual SIM card slot. One slot takes a SIM for 4G LTE service, and it’ll also hold up to 2TB of microSD. That’s expandable storage on top of the 128GB built in, which is super valuable when you’re loading offline movies for a flight. Just note the LTE is not compatible with AT&T or Cricket, so check your carrier before you order.

Build: 7.5mm and It Feels Like Quality

At 7.5mm, the chassis is thinner than a standard pencil and has no flex when you twist it, no creaking plastic, no screen ripple. It’s the kind of build that makes you do a double-take at the price tag.

The included cover handles the rest. It protects against some drops and nicks, and it folds into a stand so you’re not propping the thing against a water bottle to watch something.

Real Charging and Battery Numbers From My Testing

Charging at 18 watts, 0 to 50% took about an hour and 15 minutes. That’s the headline, and it’s the slowest part of owning this tablet. Getting to 80% took about 2 hours and 10 minutes. A full 0 to 100% took about 3 hours and 15 minutes. A 9000mAh battery needs a big charger to fill fast, and 18 watts isn’t it. Plan on charging overnight rather than topping up before you walk out the door.

The drain side is where it pays you back. Video streaming on YouTube, Netflix, or Prime Video ran about nine and a half to 10 hours. Browsing and social media stretched to around 11 or 12 hours. Casual gaming came in at six and a half to seven hours. Heavy 3D gaming dropped to about four and a half to five hours, which tracks with what the Unisoc T7300 is built for. It’s an efficient 6nm chip made for daily stability, not high-end 3D rendering. Standby sat around a day and a half to two days.

For the screen itself, the 12.2 inches is close to an iPad Pro or a Surface Pro in footprint, and the 90Hz refresh makes the system animations look significantly smoother than the standard 60Hz budget screens. Widevine L1 is the spec most people skip over and shouldn’t. Without it, budget tablets restrict your Netflix or Prime Video to grainy 480p. With L1, you get full high definition. Quad speakers, two on each side, fill in the sound.

What the Money Buys

Add up what’s in the box and it’s a stylus, a cover, and two screen protectors you’d otherwise buy separately. Pair that with a 2.4K 90Hz panel and Widevine L1, and you’re getting specs that budget tablets usually cut. Check the current price at the link, because that’s the number that decides whether this is good or great.

Who This Big Screen Tablet Is Actually Built For

This is the tablet for anyone who spends real time watching, reading, or sketching and doesn’t want to pay iPad money to do it. The 12.2-inch 2.4K screen and bundled accessories make the case on their own, the LTE slot is just a bonus.

It’s not the tablet for a hardcore mobile gamer looking to max out heavy 3D titles. And if you need something really lightweight to hold for long stretches, this one’s not for you at 610 grams. Everyone else gets a 12.2-inch 2.4K panel, Widevine L1, a stylus, and a cover, at a price most name-brand tablets charge just for the case. The Ulefone Tab A12 Pro makes that trade-off easy.

Pros

  • 12.2-inch 2.4K screen at 90Hz, noticeably smoother animations than 60Hz budget panels
  • Widevine L1 means real HD on Netflix and Prime instead of 480p
  • Stylus, cover, and two screen protectors included, one pre-installed
  • 9 to 10 hours of video streaming, 11 to 12 hours of browsing
  • Clean Android 16 with no bloatware, plus microSD up to 2TB

Cons

  • 3 hours and 15 minutes to charge 0 to 100% at 18 watts
  • “16GB RAM” is 8GB physical plus 8GB dynamic expansion, not the same thing
  • 610 grams gets heavy on long handheld sessions
  • Unisoc T7300 isn’t built for heavy 3D titles

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the included stylus need charging or pairing?

No. It’s a capacitive stylus, so there’s no battery, no Bluetooth pairing, and nothing to set up. Pull it out and write. That also means no pressure sensitivity, so it’s fine for notes and casual drawing, not pro illustration work.

Will it work on my carrier?

Not on AT&T or Cricket. Ulefone lists those as incompatible. It’s a dual SIM 4G LTE tablet otherwise, and it also runs WiFi 5 on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz if you’d rather skip the SIM entirely.

What’s the return window if it isn’t for me?

Ulefone lists a 30-day refund or replacement policy, plus product support by phone and chat with troubleshooting and help videos. Given the charge time, I’d test the battery behavior in the first week rather than the fourth.

Can this replace a laptop for schoolwork?

For document editing and online classes, the 12.2-inch screen gives you enough room to work in. It’s Android, not desktop, and there’s no keyboard in the box, so you’d be adding a Bluetooth keyboard. As a second screen for notes and reading, it’s a strong fit.
