Utheer Nano-Ceramic Nonstick Griddle Review
I cooked burgers, bacon and eggs on the Utheer 25x16 nano-ceramic griddle indoors on my stovetop. Here's what held up.
The Utheer 25″ x 16″ Nano-Ceramic Nonstick Griddle is worth buying if you’re serious about cooking on a gas or charcoal grill. It’s 26 pounds of cast iron with a slippery ceramic surface, and the only rule is never touch it with an abrasive pad. Easy buy.

Quick Verdict
I pushed a fried egg around bare cast iron with no oil fight and no sticking. 26 pounds, nothing flexes, and the vented underside lets the fire breathe. Half a star off because one wrong scrubbing pad undoes the whole surface, anything else is five-star.
Buy if you:
- cook eggs and bacon on a grill and hate losing them through the grates
- want a flat top you can throw in the truck for camping trips and tailgates
- run a gas or charcoal grill and want a universal insert instead of a whole new unit
- cook indoors in winter when barbecue season is out of the question
Skip if you:
- scrub with steel wool or a burlap pad, because you’ll scratch the surface and ruin the nonstick
- don’t want to lift 26 pounds of cast iron in and out of a grill
- need a surface that goes past 500°F in the oven

How the Nano Ceramic Nonstick Griddle Won Us Over
I pushed a fried egg around the surface with nothing holding it back. That’s the whole pitch for a nano ceramic nonstick griddle, and it’s where most of them fail. It’s a little cold where we live right now, so barbecue was out of the question. I put this thing right on my stovetop and made burgers, bacon and eggs on it instead.
The egg moved with a nudge from a silicone spatula, no oil, no butter, no catching at the edges. For a ceramic surface on a 26-pound cast iron slab, that’s exactly what the coating promises and rarely what cheaper griddles deliver.
26 Pounds of Cast Iron and Vents Underneath
Cast iron at 25″ x 16″ and 26 pounds means this thing does not move, warp, or rattle when you put it on a burner or drop it on a grill grate. The nano-ceramic layer is fused into the surface rather than sprayed on top, which is why it doesn’t flake the way cheaper nonstick coatings do after six months of use.
Flip it over and you can see vents on the underside. That’s so the fire source can breathe, which spreads heat evenly across the surface instead of leaving you one scorching hot spot in the middle. There’s a grease groove and high sidewalls too, so bacon fat has somewhere to go.
Cleanup Is a Paper Towel. That’s It.
I wiped it down with a paper towel, hit it with a soapy sponge, then dried it with more paper towels. Perfect. No scraping, no soaking.
Here’s the catch, and it’s the one thing that’ll ruin this griddle: you don’t want to use anything with sharp edges on it. A burlap pad, steel wool, a metal scrubber. You will scratch up the surface and kill the nonstick. If you’re the type who attacks cookware with an abrasive pad out of habit, this is going to be an adjustment.
It’s Not Just a Grill Accessory
Most people assume a flat top insert is locked to the barbecue. It isn’t. I cooked on mine on a stovetop in the middle of cold weather, and it worked exactly the same way it would over charcoal. The detachable handles mean it stores flat and travels without catching on everything in the truck bed.
Who Should Grab One
This is a grill-grate problem solver first: eggs, bacon strips, smash burgers, anything that would otherwise fall through or stick to bare cast iron grates. Bring it camping and you have a full flat-top breakfast surface over any fire; leave it in the backyard and it doubles your grill’s surface versatility without buying a whole new unit.

If you’re not going to respect the cleaning rule, or 26 pounds is more than you want to wrestle, buy something else. Otherwise it’s an easy one to check the current price on.
Pros
- Egg slid around freely with no sticking
- Very heavy, good quality material, built strong and tough
- Vented underside lets the fire breathe for even heat
- Cleans with a paper towel and a soapy sponge
- Works on a stovetop, not just a grill
Cons
- Any abrasive pad will scratch and ruin the nonstick coating
- About 26 pounds, so moving it around is a two-hand job
- Oven rated only to 500°F
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to season it before the first cook?
No. It ships pre-seasoned cast iron with the nano-ceramic layer already on it. A small amount of oil, or just the natural fat off bacon or burgers, is all the surface needs.
Will it fit my grill?
It’s a universal design meant to drop into most gas and charcoal grills, but measure your grate area against 25″ x 16″ first. The 2.6″ height matters too if your lid closes tight.
Is the coating safe at high heat?
The coating is PFAS, PFOA and PTFE-free, and it’s oven-safe to 500°F. Over live charcoal it’s easy to blow past that, so keep the fire moderate rather than ripping.
