HOOBRO 5-Tier Shoe Rack Review

The HOOBRO shoe rack turned our disorganized closet into one shelf per kid. Here's what it holds and where it falls short.

The HOOBRO 5-Tier Shoe Rack is worth buying if your closet floor is a pile of shoes and you need assigned space for a whole family. Five mesh tiers hold up to 16 pairs, and the wood top takes 22 lb of taller boots. Buy it.

Quick Verdict

Our closet floor went from a pile to one shelf per person. We absolutely love this thing. Five tiers, 16 pairs, and a wood top that handles the taller boots nobody can stack.

Buy if you:

  • have multiple kids and want each one assigned a shelf
  • need a spot for tall boots that won’t lie flat
  • are hiding it inside a closet, not showing it off
  • want the floor underneath usable as a sixth layer

The Before Picture Was Embarrassing

Before: a shin-high pile of sneakers, boots, and sandals sharing the same square foot of closet floor. After: five tiers, one shelf per person, and the floor itself usable again. Ours lives inside the closet rather than the entryway, which you can check the current price on Amazon here.

Five Tiers. We Get Six.

The rack sits high enough off the ground that you can slide shoes underneath onto the carpet, a genuine sixth layer that costs nothing and that HOOBRO doesn’t even mention in the specs.

The top surface is really nice. We put our taller shoes up there, the boots that won’t fit on a mesh shelf. You could stack books on there or whatever you need, just keep it under the 22 lb the top board is rated for. The shelves also tilt, flat or slanted, and one comes out entirely if you need the height for heels.

One Shelf Per Kid

Each kid gets their own shelf, and that’s what sold my wife on it. My son takes the top for his taller boots. My middle child gets the middle shelf. I’m on the third. My wife has the bottom. Our youngest doesn’t have shoes yet, so he’s too little for a shelf. He’ll get his own soon, and I’ll probably get kicked out.

That’s the math on the HOOBRO shoe rack on Amazon: 3 to 4 pairs per layer, so a family of five fills it without fighting over space.

What to Know Before You Order

At 29.5 inches wide it ate most of our closet’s usable wall, measure before you order. The 11 lb per-layer limit matters too: these mesh shelves are built for shoes, not boot bags loaded with gear. Construction is particleboard and metal with a rustic brown finish; all the tools you need come in the box.

Pros

  • Turns a disorganized closet floor into assigned space fast
  • Wood top handles tall boots that don’t fit on a shelf
  • Floor underneath works as a free sixth layer
  • Shelves tilt flat or slanted, and one removes for heels

Cons

  • 22 lb top limit rules out anything heavy up there
  • 29.5 inches wide takes up most of a standard closet
  • Particleboard, not solid wood

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you clean the mesh shelves?

Wipe the metal mesh with a damp cloth and dry it. Keep water off the particleboard top, since that’s the part that swells if it stays wet. Dirt falls through the mesh, so the floor under it needs a vacuum more than the rack does.

Does it work in an entryway instead of a closet?

Yes, it’s built for entryways, hallways, and dorm rooms too. It’s freestanding with adjustable feet, so it doesn’t need a wall anchor. Ours just happens to live in a closet.

Can you add a second unit side by side?

Two will sit next to each other fine, but you need 59 inches of wall for a pair. They don’t stack or lock together, so plan on them as separate units.
