Sizing: I’d Go Up
I’m 5’8″ and the large was tight enough across the shoulders that I wouldn’t have wanted a shirt with any bulk underneath. If you’re between large and XL, don’t gamble, size up. The 2.3-inch chest jump to XL is small enough that you won’t be swimming in it.
The chart backs that up. Large is listed at a 42.5″ chest and XL at 44.8″, so there’s about 2.3 inches between them. That’s not a huge jump, which is exactly why the in-between guys get stuck. The acrylic knit is really nice and doesn’t itch or anything like that, which matters when you’re wearing it over a shirt for three hours at an office party.
The Hand Wash Rule Is the Catch
You’re going to hand wash this sweater, and you’re going to disconnect the light pack first so you don’t end up getting that part wet. That’s the one real limitation here. The listing says machine or hand wash, but with the wiring running through the knit I wouldn’t risk a machine cycle.
Once the switch is unplugged you can hand wash the rest of it without anything breaking or anything like that. It’s an extra ten minutes in the sink after a party. Worth knowing before you spill eggnog on it.
